Busy Weekend!

Phew! What a full and fun past two weeks!  I'm sitting here on Monday morning and nothing is really planned yet.  Don't get me wrong, I've got a lot on my to-do list and a lot of catching up to do but with no screenings, auditions or meetings for a bit, I feel a little unsure of where to start.  I am going to a casting workshop tonight but that isn't until the evening...so this day is wide open.  But the weekend was pretty busy, so here is the rundown:

Friday night was the Awards Gala for ITV Fest.  I didn't attend but Kelsey Robinson, writer/creator/star of GIRL PARTS, was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy for our show.  So she was there.  And it is a good thing she was because guess what?

GIRL PARTS WON THE 2011 ITV FEST AUDIENCE CHOICE AWARD!!!!!

That was a pretty big and exciting deal.  Our second episode hasn't even launched online yet (it will later today!) and already we are winning awards.  We are blown away by this honor.  Here is a picture of Kels with the trophy:

They took back the trophy at the end of the night so it can be engraved. As soon as we get it back, we'll get a cast photo with our pretty prize!  PS, that mustachioed gentleman with Kelsey is our friend Brendan Bradley, who is quite prolific in the web world.  His show, Squatters, won Best Comedy for StayTunedTV.  Yay, Brendan!

Saturday was the screening of TRUE LOVE at the HollyShorts Film Festival.  It was held at the same theatre where GIRL PARTS premiered the previous weekend so it was fun to see another one of my works there.  The festival was running behind and they started over an hour late.  But once it got going it was a good experience.  I love hearing how audiences respond to this film.  There are a lot of unexpected elements throughout and that always warrants some unexpected laughs.  Very proud of that film!

Yesterday morning I had a callback for one of the commercials I auditioned for the previous week.  Sunday auditions are not unheard of but they are less common.  Either way, I was thrilled to have a callback and happy to spend my Sunday morning at an audition!  I'll keep you posted if I hear more from that.

Right now I'm on Skype with my sister as she touches up my headshots and makes them even better.  Like remarkably better.  If you are an actor that needs to have your headshots taken from "good" to "awesome", then email her at kelseylynnphoto@yahoo.com.  Her skills are impressive.
